UNBELIEVABLE: “No I’m Leaving” Detroit Lions Head Coach Dan Campbell Has Admitted to Leaving Following Background Argument with Management Regarding His.….
Already on several teams’ coaching-search radars, Lions defensive coordinator Aaron Glenn got two ringing endorsements from Lions defenders that ought to make him an even more appealing contender.
Two separate conversations with linebacker Alex Anzalone and defensive back Kerby Joseph on Tuesday about Glenn yielded compliments from each. Anzalone likened Glenn to Lions head coach Dan Campbell during an appearance on “The Adam Schefter Podcast,” noting they shared the same cloth cut.
“Everything that is mentioned about Dan, as far as leadership and, you know, culture and development and all those amazing things,” Anzalone remarked, “in my mind, is him and A.G., in two of the best I have been around. I have watched him grow only as a coach and coordinator. Being a part of is cool.
Anzalone said, “I think that he’s ready to do it,” about Glenn’s prospective NFL head coachability.
First-team all-star Joseph from 2024 sung a somewhat different melody. Joseph told presenter Kay Adams he doesn’t want his defensive coordinator to leave Detroit, while also complimenting Glenn during a visit on “Up & Adams.”
Joseph exclaimed, “We have to do something.” “I wish he wouldn’t be leaving.” Joseph praised Glenn’s defensive approach, especially his intensity and toughness. He did admit, though, Glenn would “be a great head coach.”
Glenn is a possibility for Saints and Jets positions. After the Patriots mocked the Rooney Rule with its dishonest interviews with Black coaches Pep Hamilton and Byron Leftwich, he turned down an interview invitation from the team.
Former NFL defensive back Glenn was selected by the Jets in the first round—No. 12 overall—of the 1994 NFL Draft. He spent 15 years in the league playing, then retired with the Saints in 2008. He also spent five seasons coaching defensive backs (2016–2020).
In Glenn’s fourth season as defensive coordinator, the Lions completed the regular season sixth in scoring defense (20.1 points each game). Glenn is rightfully a prized commodity during the present recruiting season thanks to his work in Detroit.
If Glenn wasn’t a head coach in 2025, Anzalone and Joseph’s testimonies would make it much more startling.
