After a season in which they won the SEC Tournament but lost in the first round of the NCAA Tournament, the Auburn Tigers want to have another big year in 2024–25. Bruce Pearl, the head coach, thinks that his team needs to play tough non-conference games in order to be ready to make another run in the NCAA Tournament.

Pearl made sure to schedule what might be the hardest non-conference schedule in the program’s history. It includes a number of teams that are in the running for the Final Four.

“This is by far the hardest schedule Auburn Basketball has ever had, and more likely than ever in my 29 years as head coach,” Bruce Pearl said. It’s part of making plans to see who wants to play you. Some of the best teams in the country want to play us because of how well we’ve done over the last eight seasons. There are six or seven non-conference teams that could make it to the NCAA Final Four this year.

“That shows our players that I believe in them, and we want to be a Top 25 program in college basketball for a long time.” I am more than happy for our athletes that they get to play against the best in college hoops.

During non-conference play, the Tigers have six home games. Auburn’s first game of the season is at home against Vermont on November 6. They then play Kent State on November 13, North Alabama on November 18, Richmond on December 8, Georgia State on December 17, and Monmouth on December 30.

Auburn has three big games at neutral sites. Next up for the Tigers are games against Houston (Nov. 9) at the Toyota Center in Houston, Texas, Ohio State (Dec. 14) at Holliday Hoopsgiving in Atlanta’s State Farm Arena, and Purdue (Dec. 21) at Legacy Arena in Birmingham. Last year, Houston made it to the National Championship Game.

The Tigers only have one real road game in non-conference play. It is at Cameron Indoor Stadium on December 6 against the Duke Blue Devils, who made it to the Elite Eight last year.

Auburn will also be at the Maui Invitational, where it might play Colorado, Dayton, Iowa State, Memphis, Michigan State, North Carolina, and UConn.
