Trade Tsunami: Edmonton Oilers and Rivals have agreed to trade star player in a six-figure deal….Read more

In a deal that took place on Monday afternoon, the Edmonton Oilers sent forward prospects Xavier Bourgault and Jake Chiasson to the Ottawa Senators. Roby Jarventie, a promising forward, and a draft pick in the fourth round in 2025 were the items that were returned. During the 2020 draft, Jarventie was selected 33rd overall. He participated in seven National Hockey League games for Ottawa and scored one point. He had 86 points while playing for its American Hockey League club, the Belleville Senators, in 136 games. Edmonton selected Chiasson (116th overall) and Bourgault (22nd overall) in the draft in 2021. Chiasson was selected by Edmonton.

In the Western Hockey League (WHL), Chiasson had a respectable performance, with 111 points in 177 games for the Brandon Wheat Kings and the Saskatoon Blades. In the American Hockey League, he has only participated in one game. When Bourgault was chosen, he appeared to be a fairly bankable possibility from a statistical point of view. He scored 206 points for the Shawinigan Cataractes over the course of 197 games played in the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League. It is unfortunate that his American Hockey League (AHL) numbers do not correspond to the same level of success; he has only scored 54 points over 117 games while playing in Bakersfield.

I made an effort to maintain a positive outlook on the possibility that he could eventually find his groove while playing for the Condors and then finally make an impact for the Oilers. On the other hand, Jeff Jackson thought that he needed a change of scenery because he has been moving about with an overwhelming number of movements when he is not working. Based on his most recent two trades and the draft that took place this year. Over the course of the past few seasons, it is quite evident that he has a significantly different perspective on the team’s prospect pool.

My opinion is that this is neither a significant nor a minor move. Perhaps because Bourgault was selected with a relatively high number of picks in the draft, he is currently considered to be a bust. Nevertheless, I would not have the same reaction to this transaction as I did to the one in which Edmonton traded Ryan McLeod for Matt Savoie. I do not consider this move to be a steal. In the future, it would be fantastic if Jarventie played a role for the Oilers that was around average. However, even if he were to be added to the roster of the National Hockey League as an extra, the likelihood of him being selected is extremely minimal. In addition to observing how our new fourth-round pick performs, we will also observe how he performs on his new American Hockey League team.
