Gaining momentum moving into their bye week, the Tennessee Titans were able to secure a victory on Monday Night Football this week. The Titans’ bye week is well-timed as well, as they are dealing with a significant injury crisis on defense.

T.K. McClendon Jr., Marlon Davidson, Garret Wallow, and Cedric Gray were the four Titans defensive players who were placed on the injured reserve list at the beginning of the season.

Jeffery Simmons acknowledged last week that he had a ripped elbow ligament, while Chidobie Awuzie went on injured reserve. A knee injury was sustained by Keondre Coburn on Monday.

Due to all of these injuries, the scouting department at Bleacher Report has recommended that the Titans sign cornerback Jerry Jacobs in free agency.

It was believed that this club’s strength was at cornerback. On paper, the pairing of Chidobie Awuzie and L’Jarius Sneed is fantastic. The former has a hamstring issue, and the latter was put on injured reserve due to a groin injury.

Even though Jerry Jacobs had his share of problems last year, he is a younger guy (27 years old) with starting experience. While playing for the Lions last year, he started 12 games and recorded three interceptions.

After signing as a free agent with the Detroit Lions in 2021 after going undrafted, Jacobs spent three years with the team. During his time there, he led the team in tackles (131 total, 116 solo), forced a fumble, interceptions (four for 83 yards), passes defensed (23 total), and stuffs (5 total).

The Titans should acquire a defensive back of some type with their current defensive situation and the amount of cap room they possess. Jacobs is an affordable option with field knowledge who may make an instant impact. Actually, it’s not that bad of a concept.
