Hill has been an NFL player for six years, during which time he has played for the Arizona Cardinals, the New England Patriots, and the Dallas Cowboys. To fill Hill’s position, the Colts signed Payne, a rookie out of Virginia Tech who went undrafted. Payne adds potential depth to a starter’s role thanks to his collegiate experience with the Hokies and the Nebraska Cornhuskers.

Although he only played in 31 games for the Owls, Payne finished with 71 tackles (including 15 for loss), 7 sacks, 3 passes defensed, and 1 forced fumble.
