Indianapolis Colts Loses Two Major Offensive Threats to rivals due to $225 Million blockbuster trade and…See more

Hill has been an NFL player for six years, during which time he has played for the Arizona Cardinals, the New England Patriots, and the Dallas Cowboys. To fill Hill’s position, the Colts signed Payne, a rookie out of Virginia Tech who went undrafted. Payne adds potential depth to a starter’s role thanks to his collegiate experience with the Hokies and the Nebraska Cornhuskers.

Although he only played in 31 games for the Owls, Payne finished with 71 tackles (including 15 for loss), 7 sacks, 3 passes defensed, and 1 forced fumble. Even though this is just a practice squad signing and won’t cause much of a stir, these kinds of deals can pay handsomely when executed well, particularly for teams dealing with injury problems like the 2024 Colts.

At 8-5, Indianapolis takes on the Denver Broncos in Week 15. The Mile High faithful aren’t going to be kind to Anthony Richardson or Shane Steichen’s team. Still, the Colts will not let it deter them from winning such a huge game; a loss would be devastating to their playoff hopes.
