Sad news: Tragic shooting in nightclub claims life of star player for the Tampa Bay Lightning as announced by Jon Cooper…..See details
It was just for a short period of time that Gauge Goncalves made his debut in the National Hockey League for the current season. The Lightning have sent the forward to Syracuse of the American Hockey League after making the announcement that they will be moving ahead this season.
The athlete, who is 23 years old, was recalled by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers earlier this week and went on to play in two games with the team. In spite of the fact that he played a little more than 10 minutes in each game, he was unable to find his way onto the scoresheet throughout those games.
Goncalves had a phenomenal offensive year with the Crunch during the previous season, accumulating 58 points in 69 games. He completed this feat during the previous season. Before he was called back into action this year, he had gotten off to a fantastic start, having already recorded four assists and four appearances so far.
Goncalves was promoted to the starting lineup in order to take Brayden Point’s place after the latter sustained an injury to his lower body. On the other hand, this assignment should not be interpreted as a sign that Point is prepared to return just yet; he did not take part in practice on Saturday.
Goncalves will have the opportunity to play with the Crunch as a result of this assignment, which will at the very least free up some further cap space. On the other hand, Tampa Bay is not slated to play until Thursday, which means that this assignment will not only free up some additional contract space.
In the event that Point is not ready to return by the time of the game on Thursday, it is quite probable that Goncalves will be promoted, as this is the most likely scenario.
