Hutchinson, a senior at Michigan in 2021, made a name for himself as a can’t-miss prospect after recording 14 sacks and placing second in the Heisman Trophy voting. In addition, it was Macdonald’s only season leading the defense, and his stingy playmaking allowed the Wolverines to qualify for their first of three consecutive College Football Playoffs.

Aidan Hutchinson of the Detroit Lions talks about Seahawks coach

Prior to the game against Macdonald’s Seahawks on Monday night, Hutchinson thought back on the significance of his former coordinator.

“I believe he did a fantastic job. According to Detroit Lions On SI, Hutchinson remarked, “I loved having him as a coach back in 2021.” “It was like if I was enjoying football again when he brought the Ravens defense in when I was a senior. Though I’m incredibly grateful for him, it looks like we have to square off once more. I’m going to have to text him and give him some shit.

Hutchinson also remembered an exchange in which Macdonald informed him that he had changed his mind about becoming an NFL head coach.

“I remember him telling me he never wanted to be a head coach and then I saw he accepted the job,” Hutchinson recalled. “I told her, ‘You little liar.'” No, they’re 3-0 and so far they’re doing well; he deserves it. Though we have a lot on our plates, I believe we have a decent chance.”

The Seahawks are among the few teams in the NFL still without a loss, according to Macdonald, but a road matchup with the Lions will undoubtedly be their worst test to date. Hutchinson’s sack total of 6.5 this season leads the league, making him a particularly difficult opponent for Seattle’s inexperienced offensive line. There’s no doubt that Monday night’s plot will center on the teacher-student chess match.
