Reports: The Parramatta Eels turned their poor form around with a stunning win against the Brisbane Broncos.

For the first game of the new season, the Parramatta Eels defeated the Broncos by a score of 22-10, demonstrating that they have turned around their performance from the 2023 season, when they were a wooden spoon team.

In order to get their time under new coach Steve Georgallis off to a winning start, the Eels made the most of their opportunities. Rachael Pearson, Kennedy Cherrington, and Elsie Albert, all of whom have a lot of experience, helped set the stage with a great performance throughout the game.

Despite this, the Broncos got off to a better start than the other team when Julia Robinson made a brilliant play to intercept a cross-kick from Eels halfback Pearson just off her own try line. She then proceeded to go the entire length of the field to score the first points of the match.

Parramatta used their 57 percent share of possession to build a 10-4 lead at the halftime break with tries down their left-hand side to Zali Fay and Rory Owen on debut. However, their poor discipline, which allowed the Eels to come back into the game, allowed the host team to concede seven penalties to one at the halftime break.

During the second half, the Eels were once again in the driver’s seat. This was due to the fact that the Broncos had conceded another penalty early on, and the visitors continued to exert pressure on the home team. By playing some end-to-end football, they were able to score the first try of the half.

This time, they went over on their right-hand side, and winger Monique Donovan scored the try, which increased their lead to 14-4. However, momentum shifted in the opposite direction for a brief period of time when the Eels attempted to kick a ball that was unsuccessful, thereby providing the Broncos with a seven-tackle set.

The Broncos made the most of this opportunity, working their way up the field and eventually being rewarded with a try when Chelsea Lenarduzzi crashed over for Brisbane’s second try of the match, demonstrating that she was too powerful to stop.

The Eels, on the other hand, were able to maintain their composure and keep the pressure on in order to achieve the unexpected victory, despite the fact that certain frustrations manifested themselves late in the game.

The Eels will play host to the Sharks at Allianz Stadium on Sunday of the next week, while the Broncos will play against the Roosters after that match. Both of these matches will take place the following week.
