Reports: The Duke basketball recruiting radar includes a sharpshooter who has received five stars.

During the first open-contact period of the 2026 recruiting cycle, which began on June 15, Jalen Montonati was one of the few prospects who made it onto the Duke basketball call log. This occurred within a few days of the beginning of the period. In addition, the outstanding wing player from Owasso High School in Oklahoma recently shared with Jamie Shaw of On3 that the Blue Devils are among the individuals that continue to make contact with him.

“I’m hearing from schools like Baylor, Kentucky, UConn, Creighton, Duke, and Villanova,” he explained to reporters. “So, we’ll see what happens with them.” Early in the month of June, Duke basketball head coach Jon Scheyer and his staff, who have not yet extended any offers for the 2026 season, witnessed the five-star player, who stands 6 feet 7 inches tall and weighs 175 pounds, shine at the NBPA Top 100 Camp.

Eric Bossi of 247Sports, who had the opportunity to observe Montonati at the USA Basketball minicamp in the beginning of April, provided a summary of the 17-year-old’s most impressive on-court qualities:

“He remains one of the truly elite shooters in the class and has a gorgeous jumper with deep range that he can get off in a hurry.”

Montonati, who was only a sophomore during the previous season, was awarded the title of Oklahoma Gatorade High School Player of the Year, and he currently has approximately twenty offers from colleges and universities. One of them is a blueblood, and that is Kansas. He has traveled to the states of Kansas, Indiana, Oklahoma, and Oklahoma State without legal authorization.
