Reports: Rob Dillingham, a former guard for Kentucky, is having a moment in Minnesota
Over the past several days, Rob Dillingham, a former guard for Kentucky, has had his fair share of welcoming moments in Minnesota. His first news conference with the Timberwolves’ media was the beginning, and soon the focus changed to another sport. Dillingham tossed the opening pitch during Thursday’s Minnesota Twins game.
Last season, Minnesota advanced to the Western Conference Finals, thanks in large part to the NBA Draft trade that netted them Dillingham. According to Dillingham, it would be a perfect match for the Timberwolves’ system and would be beneficial for the team and the player alike.
Trust me when I say it’s a godsend. For Dillingham, it was a sign of confidence and an indication that the team believed in his potential to grow during draft night. All I wanted was for them to have faith in me. That was all the squad I needed, in my opinion. What a blessing it is that they are showing me. So many great players are my opponents, and I get to pick their brains. Being in this scenario at all is a blessing, in my opinion. Undoubtedly, I am grateful to the Timberwolves.
In 2023, Dillingham averaged 15.2 points, 3.9 assists, and 44.4 percent from outside the arc, earning him the title of SEC Sixth Man of the Year.
With his scoring and playmaking abilities in the backcourt, something the Timberwolves lacked besides Anthony Edwards, he will be a great addition right away.
Dillingham will remain a Minnesota star until next week’s NBA Summer League, when he will most likely make his Timberwolves debut.
