The most recent weekly ratings from Pro Football Focus were announced, and among the notable highlights were the impressive performances of key Jets players.

Center Joe Tippman stood out from the rest of the team with an impressive 83.6 grade. Not many players could boast good marks in both run blocking and pass protection like he could.

Although he did let one pressure, it was for a sack, in the game. The deciding factor in his ascent to the top rank was his high run blocking grade.

The Wisconsin Badgers sophomore has come a long way from his lackluster freshman year.

Tyron Smith, a left tackle on the offensive line, had an 80.8, placing him among the highest-graded players. Smith, like to Tippman, was highly rated for his run blocking and pass protection abilities.

In securing Aaron Rodgers’ blind side, he let no pressures on that day in. Even though he let in four hurries in the opening game, he had a somewhat better day overall.

We brought the 33-year-old in for one season to see if he still had it in him before we probably put first-round pick Olu Fashanu in charge next year.

It would be a huge relief for Smith’s coaches if he maintained his performance level throughout the season. This kind of acclaim for the offensive line is hardly unexpected. Rodgers was only tested three times throughout the match. There were no sanctions imposed on the group. An increase of 4.2 yards per carry was seen in the running game.

As they continue to bond, the new group is looking potential, though it is far from ideal.
Linebacker Jamien Sherwood, who got the second-highest grade from the game (82.7), produced one of the most significant and unexpected performances of the day.

Following C.J. Mosley’s early exit due to an injury that was later determined to be less serious than first thought, Sherwood was subjected to a higher snap count.

In response to the assignment, the fourth-year depth linebacker had a strong performance, recording 12 tackles (including 1 for loss). He had one of the team’s higher efficient rates with four tackles and one missed tackle.

In 30 snaps of coverage, he gave up only one reception for eight yards on two targets (one of which was a broken up ball).
