During the trade deadline, the Houston Astros were practically restrained at the hands of opponents. There was no question that they required a starting pitcher; yet, due to the limited assets in their farm system and the fact that teams were aware of this fact, they were forced to pay a higher price.

As a result of the obvious requirement for this baseball club, Dana Brown did not have much of a choice in the matter. In the event that they were unable to get Yusei Kikuchi, the prognosis for the remaining months of the year would be strikingly different from what it is at the moment.

There is a strong possibility that the Astros will advance to the postseason. They have a good deal of influence over their own fate. There is a good chance that they will win the American League West if they keep winning games. They began the season as one of the poorest teams in baseball, but they are now in the lead by a half game because of their performance.

When it comes to light-hitting utility types, Dubón is on the more expensive end of the spectrum. However, he is not necessarily ready for shopping either. The Astros may potentially save money by dealing him, and they would not really be worse off as a result.

Due to the fact that he is an outstanding defender, Dubon is an intriguing player. It is not exactly what Houston needs, slashing, in terms of offensive productivity from him.274 at-bats with a batting line of 263/.286/.380 and four home homers. During the 2023 season, which was also the year that he earned a Gold Glove, he was the only player to ever hit ten or more home runs in a single season.

However, he is now 30 years old, and he won’t be eligible for free agency until the year 2027. It is possible that this could cause teams to be concerned; yet, considering the deal that he is most likely going to receive in arbitration, it is possible that another team would be interested in acquiring him from other teams

In spite of the fact that it is difficult to conceive of a scenario in which he brings back an impact player, more bizarre occurrences have occurred, and if they package him with anybody else, they might receive somebody who is a better fit for their requirements.
