Reports: Fans in Celebration as Alabama Crimson Tide Set to Reunite and Bring Back Former Top Star to the Team….[Details in Post]
There was a sound rationale behind the decision to divide up the kicking duties in the first game of the season for the Alabama football team.
Managing extra points was Graham Nicholson’s primary responsibility, and he is the current winner of the Lou Groza Award. During this time, Conor Talty was in charge of all of the kickoffs. The Crimson Tide defeated Western Kentucky by a score of 63-0, and they did not attempt any field goals during the game.

This resulted in Nicholson gaining seven additional points. Talty booted ten kickoffs and two extra points during the game.
“One thing that is key and kind of hidden, and I’m not afraid to share it publicly: I think it’s important… if you have the possibilities to let some of those guys rotate… those kicks add up,” Alabama coach Kalen DeBoer said on his radio show on Wednesday. “I think it’s important.”
“Especially when you have 63 points in your account. There will be ten to twenty kicks in a game if one player is responsible for all of the responsibilities, including kicking off, field goals, and possession of the ball (PAT). You are going to become accustomed to that throughout the course of the season.
In the year 2023, Talty was a redshirt freshman who served as Will Reichard’s backup quarterback teammate. While this was going on, Nicholson moved from Miami (Ohio) to another school during the offseason. In the year 2023, Reichard was responsible for all of Alabama’s kicking duties.
It is only with the passage of time that we will know how the Crimson Tide will divide up their responsibilities going forward; yet, it was an intriguing twist in the first game.
