Reports: Disarray awaits Indianapolis Colts as fans favorite has been suspended indefinitely for PED use in their match aginst New York Jets ..…Read more
The ‘questionable’ tag that had been placed on right lineman Braden Smith of the Indianapolis Colts was removed after he had been included on the team’s Friday injury report.
However, Smith will start against the New York Jets despite the fact that he was on the report for a personal problem. The presence of Smith will be appreciated by both Anthony Richardson and Jonathan Taylor, who will be facing one of the most destructive defensive fronts in the National Football League.
According to Pro Football Focus, Smith has had some difficulties this season on the pass-blocking side of the ball (65.6), but he has been performing well on the run (76.2). Due to the fact that the Jets will enter this afternoon’s game with the third-most sacks in the league (32.0), the Colts need to be ready for a full-on battle in the trenches.
Although it is wonderful news that the Colts have acquired Smith, left tackle Bernhard Raimann will not be able to participate in the game because of a knee injury. As a result, sophomore Matt Goncalves, who was selected in the third round, will get another start for Indianapolis, which will allow him to get crucial experience early on in his career.
The rookie, on the other hand, should anticipate seeing a lot of Will McDonald IV (8.0 sacks) and Michael Clemons (4.5 sacks) in order to see whether or not he is capable of dealing with the persistent pass rush to Richardson.
In order to qualify for the playoffs, the Colts are in a “must-win” mode. Not only is it not ideal to be sitting at 4-6, but it is also not ideal to be riding a three-game losing run just to fly to New York and restart your rookie quarterback.
However, here we are in Indianapolis. At MetLife Stadium, we will have to wait and see what Shane Steichen decides to do with Richardson and his offense in order to counteract the challenging defense of the Jets.
