Since they finished 2024 with a 95–game winning streak, the Philadelphia Phillies shouldn’t be required to make a ton of drastic roster changes this offseason.

The Eagles’ season ended far worse than expected. Even though they were eliminated from the playoffs by the New York Mets, the Phillies were among the leading favorites to win the World Series. Though the season didn’t conclude as planned, supporters still have reason to be optimistic.

Unless trades are made, the majority of the Phillies’ roster will return in 2025. The Phillies have proven time and again that they can win games, so next year they can go even farther. Even though the Phillies probably shouldn’t make any big changes, that doesn’t mean they won’t.

Recent reports have suggested that Philadelphia would unexpectedly trade All-Star infielder Alec Bohm. Kerry Miller of Bleacher Report has further speculated that Bohm could be a good piece of trade bait this winter.

“Alec Bohm was one of the biggest reasons the Philadelphia Phillies raced out to their insurmountable lead in the (National League) East,” stated Miller. With a batting average of.300 and a slugging percentage slightly below.500, Bohm was named the National League’s starting third baseman for the All-Star Game on July 5, when the team was 58-30 and 10 games ahead of Atlanta.

“Bohm has two years of arbitration eligibility remaining, but the trade rumors have quickly blossomed into questions of ‘where’ he’ll ultimately be dealt, rather than questions of ‘if’ the Phillies are looking to trade him—fueled in some small part by recent talk that they might be in play for Alex Bregman.”

Trading Bohm is unnecessary for Philadelphia. Coming off his best season to date, he will earn slightly more than $8 million in 2025. Although I am unaware of the Phillies’ front office’s knowledge, a deal does appear surprising.
