Preseason Showdown: Milan Pulls Off Surprising 3-2 Win!
Milan, coached by Paulo Fonseca, got off to a solid start on their pre-season tour in the United States, resulting in a 3-2 victory over Manchester City. This victory was a hard-fought victory.
During the test, which included Erling Haaland, Jack Grealish, and Ederson competing against Fikayo Tomori, Ismael Bennacer, and Ruben Loftus-Cheek, both teams utilised a combination of regular first team players and youth stars.
At Yankee Stadium in New York, Manchester City got off to a good start, taking a 1-0 lead through Haaland in the 19th minute. This came after an incredible display of ability from Oscar Bobb, who is only 21 years old.
Lorenzo Colombo scored Milan’s response in the thirty minute mark. He did a good job of getting on the end of a cross from Samuel Chukwueze and heading it into Ederson’s hands, but Ederson was only able to divert it into the back of the net.
It was just four minutes later that Chukwueze performed a carbon copy of that earlier cross and once again found Colombo. Colombo remained similarly composed as he poked the ball between the lets of the Man City number one, bringing the score to 2-1.
Man City came out swinging and found an equaliser in the 55th minute after a resilient piece of play from Micah Hamilton allowed a cross to fly in for James McAtee, who easily headed it into the back of the net.
This occurred after a round of changes at halftime, which included the kits switching to their away variants at a time that was a bit confusing.
However, Milan did not give up and made a concerted effort to seize the lead once more in the 78th minute through Marco Nasti. Nasti’s shot was easily placed in the bottom corner after Alexis Saelemaekers provided a low ball. This goal brought an end to the entertaining pre-season friendly match.
