Just in: Nick Chubb Re-Signs browns, Commits to Finish Career in Cleveland brow…See more

In one of the most captivating games of the year, the Cleveland Browns dropped to the Denver Broncos With 497 yards, four touchdowns, and three interceptions—two of which were returned for scores—Jameis Winston has the most Jameis Winston games in Jameis Winston history.

And while Winston was all the buzz on Monday night in Cleveland, Nick Chubb, the less-than-ideal elephant in the room obviously needs attention.

Late October saw Chubb return to the Browns’ lineup, making his debut against the Cincinnati Bengals. He’s averaging just three yards per carry and has 243 yards since returning. Having run for just 59 yards on 20 runs against the Pittsburgh Steelers in Week 12, his season-high for yards in a game came against And given his 21 yards on nine runs, things didn’t look any better against the Broncos.

The Broncos boast one of the NFL’s finest run defenses, yet that didn’t stop Jerome Ford from averaging nearly four yards per carry. And at this point following six games, it could be time to accept that Nick Chubb is currently just who and what he is. Fairly speaking, that was somewhat to be expected. He is almost 29, has a lot of tire tread, and is off his second significant knee injury after all. Furthermore, given that this is his last year on contract, it would make logical for the Browns to let Chubb go instead of paying for a running back whose best years are behind him. Ford has shown to be a strong No. 2 and bridge starter. At some point in April, the Browns will all but definitely draft a running back; it’s really for the best.
