What the Bruins fans are saying is absolutely true. Though they may not be speaking publicly, the coaching staff, locker room, and front office of the Boston Bruins are experiencing a growing sense of terror.

In Boston, how is it possible that this is not true? As the first quarter of the season comes to a close, the team’s record stands at 8-9-3. They have a goal differential of -21 and are six points behind the division-leading Florida Panthers.

Ad Criticism No matter which facet of the Bruins you look at, it’s all falling short of what the Boston management expects. When it comes to the offensive, it’s obvious that something is lacking.

Despite being the team’s second-leading scorer, captain Brad Marchand appears to be lagging behind. Not a huge deal, but star winger David Pastrnak isn’t playing at his normal level with just eight goals and seventeen points in twenty games.

Elias Lindholm, their newest signing, is having trouble establishing rapport with the team and securing a starting position, which is a major problem for their offensive. Thought to be the Bruins’ best center, he’s only scored nine goals in twenty games.

On defense, you don’t have much more to rely on. With seven points in twenty games, Charlie McAvoy appears completely out of his element and isn’t the same blue liner he normally is. Due to an injury, Hampus Lindholm will miss an extended period of time after performing like a starting defense.

Ad Criticism Also, their goaltending—or rather, their inability to do it—is a major issue. Jeremy Swayman appeared like a backup for the first three months of the season despite signing a huge contract extension before the season started.

With a career-worst goals against average of 3.47 and save percentage of.884%, he now has a record of 5-7-2. The native of Anchorage, Alaska isn’t necessarily to blame for the team’s problems, but his shortcomings are the most pressing.

No matter how you look at it, the Bruins are in a terrible spot. This squad was meant to be competitive again, but after three months of play, all they’ve done is freak out.
