Igor Shesterkin, the star goaltender for the New York Rangers, may have gotten a substantial present from Sportico, and he and his agent have been in talks with general manager Chris Drury to extend his contract for the foreseeable future.

The magazine released yesterday the ranks of all NHL franchises in terms of valuations, and the New York Rangers came out on top as the most valuable American hockey team in the NHL. Their value increased by 33% over last season, reaching $3.25 billion, according to the ranking.

This rating could lend credence to the claims made by Shesterkin’s agent, who has extensive training in the art of getting his client to become the best paid goaltender in the National Hockey League and the highest paid Ranger. Since he considers himself the franchise’s backbone and has several accolades to back up his claim, Shesterkin has made it plain that he wants to be the highest paid team member.

Nonetheless, the Rangers clearly do not want to spend all of their cap space on one player, and his request is too high. According to online speculation, he is seeking a contract of eight years with a salary of more than thirteen million dollars each season.

We all know that player salaries will continue to rise, which will offset any advantage that the cap increase may provide, so it’s hard to imagine the Rangers giving up that important salary space, no matter how good he is.

The Rangers and their fans just couldn’t bear the thought of their beloved goaltender leaving Madison Square Garden on July 1, 2025, to join with another team, so I think the Rangers will end up signing Shesterkin and he’ll set a new standard.
