During the press conference that took place on Friday, the manager of the Mets, Carlos Mendoza, informed the media that the season of relief pitcher Dedniel Nunez had come to an end. It has been determined that Nunez, who was one of the Mets’ most productive relief pitchers out of the bullpen this year, will have his season cut short due to a flexor problem in his right arm.

Nunez is suffering from a flexor issue at the moment. Today, he had a platelet-rich plasma (PRP) injection. According to Mendoza, “He is finished for the year.”

The news comes at a time when the Mets are in the process of preparing to play a significant three-game series against their rivals in the National League East, the Philadelphia Phillies.

At the same time, the Mets are maintaining a slender one-game lead over the Atlanta Braves for the final Wild Card berth in the National League. Additionally, they are only 1.5 games behind the San Diego Padres for the second Wild Card place, and they are two games behind the Arizona Diamondbacks for the top spot in the Wild Card standings.

In spite of the fact that Nunez was enjoying a fantastic debut season for New York, the team was plagued by injuries. Following the diagnosis of a right pronator strain in his right forearm, the individual, who was 28 years old at the time, was initially placed on the IL on July 24.

On August 23, he was activated off the injured list, however he only made one appearance before being placed back on the bench for good.

At the end of the 2024 season, Nunez pitched for the Mets, pitching in 25 games and finishing with an earned run average of 2.31, a WHIP of 0.91, and 48 strikeouts across 35 innings pitched.
