Despite their recent success, the New York Mets will now be waiting with bated breath.

francisco-lindor Just In: Carlos Mendoza discusses a frustrating.....

Francisco Lindor, a candidate for the National League MVP award, left the game in the seventh inning with the Mets leading 7-0 against the Phillies because of discomfort in his lower back. A two-for-four performance with a double and an RBI was the shortstop’s nightcap.

After stepping off second base in the sixth inning, Lindor was tagged out, but his physical condition seemed good. But the Mets manager Carlos Mendoza will provide more information after tonight’s game, as Lindor was taken out of the game after one inning.

We can only hope that Lindor’s early retirement was a preventative measure, as the extent of his back pain is now unknown. This season, Lindor has appeared in every one of the Mets’ 147 games. The 30-year-old has a history of this, missing only three games in 2022 and 2023 altogether.

Losing their top player in the final stretch would be devastating for the Mets, who are fighting for a Wild Card position. Their best record in baseball since late May is due in large part to Lindor, who has slashed..834 OPS, 31 HR, and 86 RBIs while hitting 270/.341/.493.

At the conclusion of the evening, the Mets, who are ahead of the Phillies by 11-0, will most likely have a record of 81-66. They came into the night with a one-game lead over their National League East rivals, the Atlanta Braves, for the third and last Wild Card place, thus they’re trying to secure a spot in the postseason.

Lindor is experiencing some discomfort in his lower back, but Mendoza assured reporters after the game that he is not very worried about him. Mendoza thinks Lindor would have pushed for his spot if the score wasn’t 7-0.

Just day-to-day stuff. I have a feeling he’ll ask me to start him tonight. “We’ll see,” Mendoza stated.

Lindor told reporters that in the sixth inning, while round second base, he injured his back. Following his treatment, he is hoping to return to the lineup tomorrow, but his condition upon waking up on Saturday morning will determine his likelihood of doing so.
