Just in: Bryce Young Re-Signs Panthers, Commits to Finish Career in Caroli…See more
The 33-year-old had his most recent appearance in 2022, when he was a part of the Panthers’ rotation. He re-signed with Carolina in March of last year, but he was benched during roster cutdowns and would miss the entire season. Anderson has decided to retire from soccer after failing to secure a job opportunity in recent months.
Anderson played for the Indianapolis Colts for his first three seasons after being selected in the third round of the 2015 NFL draft. His 29 games played with Indianapolis included 19 starts, and he recorded a snap percentage of 62% or greater on two occasions. After being acquired by the Jets in a trade in August 2018, Anderson was prepared to play a significant role on defense for the New York team. The 2019 season was the first of the three years for the Stanford product, who started all thirteen of his games for the Jets.
Just before signing another AFC East deal—this one with the Patriots—Anderson was released by the Jets. While he did play for the Patriots in 2021, his role was far smaller in his four games than in many of his prior campaigns. Anderson will now focus on his post-playing days, following a minor rebound with the Panthers, but it has been more than a full season since he last played.
Anderson recorded 188 tackles and 11.5 sacks in 84 games played (43 starts) in the NFL. His almost $26 million in career earnings were mostly due to his free-agent deal with the Jets.
