Informes: Los Dodgers muestran un enfoque valiente al tomar el riesgo de fortalecer su roster a través de un intercambio de gran éxito… [Detalles en la publicación]
In time for the playoff push, the Los Angeles Dodgers’ pitching staff will get a significant boost.
According to ESPN’s Alden González, Dodgers manager Dave Roberts confirmed Wednesday that Yoshinobu Yamamoto is expected to make a return for Tuesday’s match against the Chicago Cubs. Due to a triceps ailment, Yamamoto has not made a game appearance since June 15. The right-hander will not be able to hold his own in a long game.
Both of his rehab starts with Triple-A Oklahoma City were short, lasting no more than two innings, as pointed out by Anthony Franco of MLB Trade Rumors. He has to strengthen his arm before the playoffs because he threw 53 pitches in his last game and had trouble with them.
Nonetheless, the Dodgers will be pleased with this turn of events, especially given the rookie’s stellar performance before his injury.
Yamamoto appeared to be shaping up to be an integral cog in a postseason drive after making 14 starts with a 2.92 ERA, 1.07 WHIP, and 84 strikeouts in 74 innings.
The good news is that the Angels have managed to stay afloat without him and now hold a 5.5-game lead over the San Diego Padres in the National League West. Even though it’s in a tie for first place in the National League with the Atlanta Braves, it has a little lead in the division thanks to the return of Yamamoto.
However, the pitching staff is still shrouded in mystery, and Yamamoto’s return adds another unknown.
The Orange County Register’s Bill Plunkett reported that Tyler Glasnow is making a gradual recovery from elbow tendinitis, while Clayton Kershaw is now wearing a walking boot and the exact timing of his return is uncertain.
“Only Jack Flaherty and Gavin Stone in the current rotation appear certain to start games in October.” When you consider Walker Buehler’s and Bobby Miller’s inconsistent performance as well as Yamamoto’s situation, it becomes clear that this is not the case.
Though he may only get a few innings on Tuesday, the start is still a big deal for Yamamoto.
