“I hates the colts for this 3 reasons” Indianapolis colts WR threatens to leav…..Read more
Before confronting the Denver Broncos (8-5), the Indianapolis Colts (6-7) are approaching their Week 14 bye. The most significant development for Indy is Anthony Richardson’s recent quarterback play. Now the young field commander has two fourth-quarter comebacks (New England Patriots and New York Jets) and three good performances.
Sports Illustrated’s Gilberto Manzano notes Richardson as a winner for his effort following guiding the Colts to a road victory against the Drake Maye-led Patriots.
“Richardson’s second shot with the Indianapolis Colts came from seasoned Joe Flacco’s lack of the magic he possessed for the Cleveland Browns previous season. Richardson might have profited, though, by not learning from his mistakes and spending a few weeks on the sidelines after overdoing on the field. Gilberto Manzano | Sport Illustrated
Richardson is a different quarterback having returned from the benching for then-starter Joe Flacco, recording 43/82 (52.4%) for 553 passing yards, three touchdowns, and two interceptions. Richardson has also powered the running game at times with 29 carries for 141 rushing yards (4.8 average) and three additional scores.
Richardson’s completion percentage has to be better, but he’s headed in the correct direction to find his stride at the ideal season timing. Though Indy doesn’t have the best chances to qualify for the postseason, Richardson’s efforts against the Jets and Patriots could help him to do so.
Manzano carried on Richardson.
Although Richardson may never be a regular passer, his size and agility challenge opposing teams. The 6’4,” 244-pound Richardson was going to keep the ball on the game-winning two-point convert and the New England Patriots still couldn’t stop him. Sports Illustrated Gilberto Manzano
Richardson got Manzano’s work against the Patriots labeled as “winner”. Although New England is not a major barrier, Richardson has had to rise from the ashes of hardship to reach this position, so topping it off with the game on the line and the ball in his hands was beautiful.
