Good News: Ricky Gervais Have Just Announced The…..Read more
Three famous TV hosts—Rula Lenska, Peter Egan, and Dame Joanna Lumley—have spoken out against the government’s disregard for a crucial rule against animal cruelty, according to the Daily Express.
The stars of some of the most legendary television series of all time are outraged that the government has done nothing to implement laws that King Charles approved twelve months ago.
Among their backers are Ricky Gervais, rock singer Rick Wakeman, explorer Sir Ranulph Fiennes, actress Jenny Seagrove, Boris Johnson’s dad Stanley Johnson, and former Tory minister Ann Widdecombe.
In September of last year, the new law was assented to by the King within hours after swiftly navigating the Houses of Commons and Lords.
Animals (low-Welfare Activities Abroad) Act was a piece of legislation that, once passed into law, forbade UK travel agencies from providing cruel tourist attractions abroad to British citizens.
Publicizing establishments like Thailand’s infamous Nong Nooch park, where elephants are subjected to cruel beatings for years as a sort of “training” to perform tricks and give rides to visitors, is now unlawful according to the new rule.
The 78-year-old actress Dame Joanna Lumley is furious that the government isn’t enforcing the law, despite the fact that she won over generations of admirers in series like Absolutely Fabulous and the New Avengers.
I don’t think any one would support such horrific cruelty if they realized the atrocities that endangered animals like Asian elephants endure so that visitors can ride them or photograph with them, “she told the Daily Express.
Royal Assent was immediately granted to the new law prohibiting the advertising of vacations and tours that entail exploitative encounters with animals by HM King Charles.
We implore the Prime Minister to put a stop to this heartless misuse by seeing to it that this Act is put into effect and strictly enforced. Behave compassionately; we have faith in you.
“Speed is of the essence for the animals and those many humans killed by animals abused in tourism .”
“The world’s most important, iconic and precious species are being driven to extinction in our lifetime by man’s rapacious and ruthless lust for profit, largely in grotesquely cruel venues and largely courtesy of a ruthless travel industry,” said 77-year-old Downton Abbey and Ever Decreasing Circles star Peter Egan, who is a passionate supporter of the Act.
Put this historic law into effect immediately without delay, confusion, or excuses like “we’re too busy”; our government has a moral and constitutional obligation to do so.
