GOOD NEWS: Los Angeles Angels predicted to cut ties with $2 million All-Star before 2025 season due to…read more…
The Los Angeles Angels finished 63–99 overall in 2024.
A team’s postseason chances have been consistently low since 2014, and this season was no exception. A new management group was on the horizon, and general manager Perry Minasian urged fans to stay faithful in his postseason speech.
In an interview with Jeff Fletcher of The Orange County Register, Minasian reportedly said, “I wouldn’t jump off the bandwagon now” when asked about the band’s long-term supporters who have been through it all with them. This team is going to make it. This team is going to be so exciting to watch from now on. This is the point where I wouldn’t give up.
New Development: Reliever Signs up with National League Contender
Just one day after the World Series ended, the Angels made their first move of the offseason—trading with the Braves for Jorge Soler—less than 24 hours later. Since then, the Anaheim Ducks have added more pitchers and position players to their roster, filling a number of vacancies.
The Angels have fulfilled their promise to add depth to the roster before the end of the year. As MLB analyst Robert Murray points out, the Halos still have a lengthy winter schedule ahead of them.
“People in Anaheim are still not sleeping,” Murray commented, drawing from his conversations with them earlier in the day. Currently, they are focusing on enhancing that roster. From where I sit, I expect them to keep pushing forward.
The most notable free agency signing thus far was starting pitcher Yusei Kikuchi, who signed a three-year, $63 million contract. Kyle Hendricks (right-hander) and Kikuchi (left-hander) are great additions to the Angels’ starting rotation.
It doesn’t take long for the 33-year-old Kikuchi to take center stage after joining the squad. Kikuchi had a 2.70 ERAa with 76 strikeouts in 60 innings in his last 10 outings for the Astros before the trade deadline.
Minasian claims that the Angels will address all positions throughout the winter, but that improving the rotation will take precedence. If Murray is to be believed, the Angels are far from done adding to their roster.
Much conjecture surrounds the Angels’ prospective pursuit of a second power hitter to join Soler. In addition, rumors have claimed that the Angels will be looking to bolster their roster with the addition of a star pitcher over the upcoming summer.
Although Minasian insisted there would be a plethora of further transactions yet, the Angels have been the most aggressive club this summer.
