ESPN: Saints QB Derek Carr Announces Major Decision After Crucial Game Against….Read More
The New Orleans Saints broke some bad injury news to this former Ohio State Buckeyes star.
The future of Chris Olave, a former wide receiver for the Ohio State Buckeyes, is uncertain after he sustained his second concussion of the year last week. Olave currently plays for the New Orleans Saints.
Even though Olave will not play in Week 10’s game against the Falcons, interim head coach Darren Rizzi of the New Orleans Saints is still considering placing the pass-catcher on injured reserve.
Through the Saints’ official YouTube channel, Rizzi informed reporters, “Everything’s on the table.”
Right on cue.
New Orleans should proceed with extreme caution due to the gravity of the situation, as Olave has already suffered two head injuries in 2024.
In eight games played thus far this season, Olave has caught 32 passes for 400 yards and one touchdown.
The 24-year-old was the Big Ten’s leading receiver twice during his four years with the Buckeyes (2018–2021).
The 2012 season was Olave’s breakout year, as he caught 49 passes for 849 yards and 12 scores. His final season with the Colts saw him catch 65 passes for 936 yards and 13 touchdowns; in 2020, his season was cut short due to the pandemic, he caught 50 passes for 729 yards and seven scores.
The Saints picked the product of San Ysidro, California, with the eleventh overall pick in the 2022 NFL Draft. Since then, he has blossomed into a professional football superstar, completing 1,000-yard seasons in each of his first two seasons in the league.
It seems possible that Olave won’t play football again in 2024.
