Tampa Buccaneers wide receiver Chris Godwin will miss Week 8 against the Falcons. Fellow receiver Mike Evans may need a miracle to play. The Buccaneers may also be without rookie running back Bucky Irving.

Irving skipped practice Thursday for the second day. His toe issue kept him out of practice Wednesday.

Irving missed another practice, raising concerns that he won’t play against the Falcons on Sunday.

As FOX Sports’ Greg Auman highlighted, the Buccaneers have two additional capable running backs in Rachaad White and Sean Tucker. White ran for 990 yards last year, barely shy of 1,000. White had 1,539 scrimmage yards in 2023 with 64 catches for 549 yards.

White is inefficient at running. Last season, he averaged 3.6 yards per carry; in 2024, 3.7.

Irving averages 5.2 yards per rush in his first seven NFL games. Tucker, in his second season with the Buccaneers, has averaged 8.2 yards per rush. However, Tucker has only 21 attempts in seven 2024 games. Tucker ran for 136 yards and a touchdown on 14 of those 21 carries against the New Orleans Saints.

White and Tucker will get more touches if Irving misses Week 8.

Irving was one of four Buccaneers who didn’t practice Wednesday. Evans and safety Tykee Smith also missed Thursday’s practice. Evans will miss many weeks due to a hamstring issue. After a concussion, Smith is healing.

Tight end Payne Durham didn’t practice Wednesday but returned briefly Thursday.

The Buccaneers’ injury report on Friday will provide further information on Irving and the other injured players. Given the tendency, the rookie running back may not play the Falcons in Week 8.

Irving leads the Buccaneers with 351 running yards and 3 touchdowns.
