It was on Wednesday night that the Montreal Canadiens and the Nashville Predators reached an agreement about a trade. Alexandre Carrier, a defenceman, will be traded to the Canadiens by the Predators in exchange for Justin Barron, another defenseman.

The transaction was announced by the Predators just a few hours before the holiday roster freeze that the National Hockey League will implement on Thursday.

Barron, who is 6 feet 2 inches tall and weighs 200 pounds, has played in 111 regular season games throughout his career and has scored 13 goals and assisted on 18 others.

After being acquired from the Colorado Avalanche through a deal in 2022, the 23-year-old went through a period of time in Montreal that was split between the National Hockey League team and the Laval Rocket of the American Hockey League. After playing in 17 NHL games so far this season, the native of Halifax, Nova Scotia has scored one goal.

In the 28 games that he has played so far this season, Alexandre Carrier, who is 28 years old, has one goal and six assists. Over the course of 245 regular season games played in Nashville, the native of Quebec City racked up a total of 11 goals and 58 assists.

The Predators selected him in the fourth round of the 2015 National Hockey League draft, which was the 115th overall pick. During this season, Carrier has a minus-14 rating, with one goal and six assists to his name.
