The Rams defeated the Las Vegas Raiders 20–15 on Sunday, their second victory of the season, thanks to a fantastic defensive performance spearheaded by Durant. After intercepting Raiders quarterback Gardner Minshew in the second quarter, the third-year corner forced two turnovers in the first half.

After Durant intercepted a ball that was headed for Raiders tight end Brock Bowers, the offense had a short field and Kyren Williams scored the game’s first touchdown run from 13 yards out.

Durant blitzed Minshew and made the veteran quarterback fumble the ball when the Raiders regained possession. The ball was picked up by teammate Kamren Curl, who returned it 33 yards for a touchdown. The Rams took a 14-3 lead after these consecutive turnovers.

Durant recorded two total tackles, one tackle for loss, one sack, one forced fumble, one interception, and two pass breakups before the end of the game. Durant won Defensive Player of the Week for the first time since this was undoubtedly his best game to date in his early career.

Jaylen McCollough, an undrafted rookie cornerback, was another formidable contender for the honor from the Rams. During the game, McCollough made two interceptions of Minshew’s passes, including the one that ended the game. The Raiders were unable to mount a late-game comeback thanks to McCollough’s two picks.

In the victory, Rams first-round selection Jared Verse put the Raiders quarterbacks under pressure nine times, more than any other rookie. An early candidate to earn Defensive Rookie of the Year, the Florida State product has been among the NFL’s best at applying pressure to the quarterback.

The Rams’ youthful defense was outstanding in Sunday’s victory, despite the fact that these efforts were against a faltering Raiders offense. Although this defense has undoubtedly had some growing pains this season, their ability to generate plays has given them hope for the future.
