Reynaldo Lopez and Aaron Bummer, two former pitchers with the Chicago White Sox, have reworked their contracts with the Atlanta Braves.
These transactions were announced by the Braves on Saturday:
A two-year, $13 million deal was inked by the Atlanta Braves with left-handed pitcher Aaron Bummer today. Bummer will earn $3.5 million in 2025 and $9.5 million in 2026. The club also inked right-handed pitcher Reynaldo Lopez to a three-year deal. Lopez is scheduled to make $8 million in 2025, $14 million in 2026, and $8 million in 2027. These accords are great for the players since they remove the club option for the 2027 season from Lopez’s original three-year deal with Atlanta last November and give him guaranteed money and job security. As a result, the Braves are able to reorganize their financial resources, which will improve their payroll condition in 2025.
Last year, the 31-year-old Bummer had a 4.33 record and a 3.58 earned run average. Last winter, the White Sox traded him to the Braves. He has a 3.79 ERA and a career record of 18-18. He was a key member of the White Sox’s seven-year (2017–2023) postseason run in 2020 and 2021.
Lopez, on the other hand, had a fantastic season after moving from the bullpen to the starting lineup in Atlanta. He had a 1.99 ERA and an 8-5 record. Throughout his nine years in the MLB, Lopez has suited up for a number of teams, including the Nationals, White Sox, Angels, Cleveland Guardians, and Braves. Last year, he was selected to play in the All-Star Game. Over seven years with the White Sox, he had a record of 33–44.
