ESPN: NFL hands 2-game suspension to Eagles QB Jalen Hurts and WR A.J Brown for alleged use of…..
On Sunday, the Philadelphia Eagles earned their franchise-record 10th consecutive victory by defeating the visiting Pittsburgh Steelers by a score of 27-13. Jalen Hurts scored two touchdowns via the air and one touchdown on the ground.
A.J. Brown and DeVonta Smith scored touchdowns for Hurts, who reportedly played with a fractured finger on his left hand (the one that is not used for throwing). Hurts completed 25 of 32 throws for 290 yards to score the touchdowns. He rushed for 45 yards and scored his 14th touchdown of the season on the ground.
A passing game that came under scrutiny throughout the entire week due to the turmoil surrounding the relationship between Hurts and Brown (eight catches for 110 yards) was the primary focus of the Eagles (12-2) offense. On the same day that Saquon Barkley, the leading rusher in the NFL, was only able to accumulate 65 yards on 19 carries, Smith added 11 receptions for 109 yards total.
The Pittsburgh Steelers (10-4) have been defeated on the road in this Pennsylvania rivalry for the past eleven games in a row, with their most recent victory being in Philadelphia in 1965. In spite of the fact that Pittsburgh was only defeated for the second time in nine games, they were still able to secure a spot in the playoffs as a result of the defeats suffered by the Miami Dolphins and the Indianapolis Colts.
Russell Wilson completed 14 of 22 passes for 128 yards and one score for the Steelers, who were restricted to 163 yards of offense by Philadelphia’s No. 1 defense. The Steelers’ offensive was controlled by Philadelphia’s defense.
During the first quarter, Hurts and Brown were on the same page, as evidenced by the fact that they connected four times for a total of 48 yards. With 1:13 remaining in the quarter, the Eagles took a 10-3 lead thanks to their touchdown hookup from 5 yards out. The lead was increased to 17-3 with 9 minutes and 7 seconds left in the second quarter when Hurts hit Smith with a pass from 2 yards out.
After the sixth possession of the game, Pittsburgh finally managed to get a first down score. Wilson completed a touchdown throw to Pat Freiermuth for nine yards, bringing the score to 17-10 with 2 minutes and 34 seconds remaining before halftime.
The Philadelphia Eagles’ lead was reduced to 17-13 after Chris Boswell kicked a field goal from 49 yards out with 37 seconds remaining in the half. Jake Elliott kicked a field goal from 41 yards out to give the Eagles a 20-13 lead at the beginning of the third quarter. The Eagles had a drive that lasted thirteen plays.
Hurts scored a touchdown from the one yard line on the second play of the fourth quarter, bringing the score to 27-13. After Najee Harris had fumbled the ball, Darius Slay was able to recover it and start the drive. During the final possession of the game, Philadelphia played out the clock by consuming a total of ten minutes and twenty-nine seconds.
