It was reported that the Oakland Athletics were interested in signing free agency starting pitcher Walker Buehler. Nevertheless, Athletics manager Mark Kotsay stated that the right-hander was not interested in playing in Sacramento.

The New York Yankees and the Atlanta Braves are among the other clubs who have shown interest in Buehler. Buehler has also been in contact with the Los Angeles Dodgers regarding a potential return.

Despite having a terrible 2024 season overall, right-hander Walker Buehler had a spectacular October showing that brought back memories of his best work.

The 2024 season was pivotal for Buehler’s career, and he was forthright about his difficulties all year. Due to sheer necessity, the Dodgers asked Buehler to join the rotation of three starting pitchers for the postseason after he posted a 5.38 ERA during the regular season.

Before the playoffs began, Buehler made it plain that playing in the big games was his sole concern. During the Dodgers’ journey to the playoffs, he delivered on his promise by dominating each opponent.

Due to the pitching staff’s injuries, Buehler was able to secure a starting position for the Dodgers’ October run. It seemed like Buehler would never be the pitcher teams wanted for the big games, but he surprised everyone.

The 30-year-old was dominant in his three starts against the Mets, the Yankees, and the San Diego Padres.

After the Dodgers had exhausted their bullpen options in Game 5 of the World Series, he came in to close out the game. The right-hander offered to pitch in relief on the very first day of rest following his five-hit, no-hitter in Game 3 of the World Series.

It was a sign of the 2024 Dodgers’ character that Buehler was willing to pitch for them. In a single World Series, he joined just three other pitchers in MLB history to earn a win and a save.

Plus, Buehler had thrown 13 shutout innings in a succession by the end of October. Buehler has an outstanding 0.47 ERA in 19 career innings pitched in the World Series, during which he has allowed only one run.

It is still unclear if the right-hander will return to Los Angeles for a few more seasons, but after his postseason performance, Buehler undoubtedly created opportunities for himself this winter.

Teams are looking for pitchers who can not only perform well under intense scrutiny, but also flourish in the most momentous of settings. That part is nailed by Buehler.
