At some point, Father Time will discover everyone’s true identity. It’s possible that this is the situation with Max Scherzer, the pitcher for the Texas Rangers.

Friday was the day when the Rangers made the announcement that Scherzer would be returning to the injured list because to fatigue in his right shoulder.

Because he was sidelined for the majority of the season due to a back issue, this is his second spell on the emergency list. As of the 27th of July, Scherzer turned forty years old.

He is currently in the final year of the three-year, $130 million contract that he initially signed with the Mets during the offseason of 2021-22.

A trade that brought him to the Rangers right before the 2023 trade deadline brought him to the Rangers. Over the course of that period of time, Scherzer has been plagued by a multitude of injuries.

He has been forced to miss time due to a left oblique strain, left side weariness, neck spasms, a teres major muscle injury, and a nerve problem in his right arm.

Additionally, he was needed to undergo surgery for a herniated disc during the offseason of 2023-24. Age and the wear and tear that comes with it have both taken their toll on the individual.

It was claimed by Chelsea Janes of the Washington Post that Scherzer was uncertain about how long he would continue throwing when she spoke to him a month ago. Although he has had a good performance when he has been able to take the mound, he has not had an easy time doing so this year.

Cooperstown will be Scherzer’s next destination if this is indeed the end of the story. In the 2,874 innings that he has pitched, he has a record of 216-112 with a 3.16 earned run average and a 1.077 WHiP. He has also struck out 3,405 batters and walked 754 of them.

Scherzer, who has been selected to the All-Star team eight times and has won the Cy Young Award three times, threw two no-hitters in 2015, was a member of two teams that won the World Series, and is notable for being one of just four pitchers to strike out twenty batters in nine innings.

Scherzer has enjoyed a career that is worthy of the pride of any individual. It would appear that Scherzer is quickly approaching the end of the road. It is possible that he has already threw the last pitch of his sporting career.
