According to Teryl Austin, the defensive coordinator, veteran safety Terrell Edmunds may be given a more significant role in the defense as a result of the injuries his team has sustained.

There is a need for a starting dimebacker for the Pittsburgh Steelers, and Edmunds has the potential to be the man that fills that vacuum. It is also possible that he will begin to take some snaps from the safety in certain looks, which will assist the Steelers in playing stronger defense against specific opposing teams.

The statement that Austin made was that “T.E.’s” (Terrell Edmunds) has always been good. Even though we are currently working on him, it is likely that you will see him sooner rather than later.

Two weeks ago, the Steelers acquired Edmunds from the practice squad of the Jacksonville Jaguars. The Steelers appear to be prepping Edmunds for a more significant position inside the secondary, despite the fact that he has not participated in either of the two games that have followed. Because of a neck injury, rookie Ryan Watts is out for the season. He is the immediate replacement for Watts, who is out for the season.

The Steelers selected Edmunds in the first round of the 2018 NFL Draft using their pick. Following his departure from the Steelers at the conclusion of the 2022 season, the 27-year-old player has already played for the Philadelphia Eagles, the Tennessee Titans, and the Jaguars.
