The Los Angeles Kings are continuing to make preparations in front of the regular season, and one of those preparations is reducing the number of players on their roster.
Thursday was the day that they made the announcement of the most recent rounds of roster moves, which included some of the most recent draft picks.
Beginning with Liam Greentree, the Kings recently made the announcement that they had reassigned the following five players to their respective junior teams. Greentree was selected by the team in the first round of the 2024 NHL Draft. After participating in all three games of the Rookie Faceoff, he went on to play in the first preseason game.
Carter George, a goaltender who was taken by the Kings in the second round of the 2024National Hockey League draft, was also re-assigned by the Kings in addition to Greentree. It was decided that George would be given the opportunity to participate in both of the first two preseason games, and he ended up making 16 saves on 18 shots.
Additionally, the Kings would reassign two defensemen to their respective junior teams. Matthew Mania, who was selected in the fifth round of the 2023 NHL Draft, and Jared Woolley, who was selected in the sixth round of the 2024 NHL Draft, would move back to their respective junior teams.
In addition to the four draft picks that were reassigned, the organization also made the announcement that they had released Arvid Caderoth, who had been signed to a contract for an amateur tryout. Caderoth continued to be a member of the Kings throughout training camp and even scored a goal late in their game against the Utah Hockey Club. He was a member of the Kings during the Rookie Faceoff and even scored a goal for them.
