Cody%20Bellinger%20072823_0 BREAKING: The Ricketts family іѕ conѕіderіng reрlаcіng  Craig Counsell wіth Bіll Belіchіck to ѕаve the Cubs…Read moreThis winter, Cubs fans will have a lot to look forward to seeing.

In 2024, during Craig Counsell’s rookie season as manager, the Chicago Cubs finished with an 83–79 record, good for tied for second place in the National League Central. The Cubs’ expectations were too low, and they ended up not making the playoffs with just 83 victories.

The next step is for the Cubs to determine how to move ahead. Spending a lot of money on free agency this winter is probably going to be necessary for that. However, the Cubs may decide to trade a prominent player as a result. Star infielder/first baseman Cody Bellinger may unexpectedly be available for trade, according to ESPN’s Jeff Passan.

The 27-year-old second baseman Nico Hoerner is not a trade chip for the Cubs.
