At first, Mookie Betts dismissed the fight with a few rowdy fans during Game 4 of the World Series against the New York Yankees as a minor incident.
However, Betts expressed his genuine thoughts about the situation in an open interview with comedians Kevin Hart and Kenan Thompson, demonstrating how irritated he was at the time.
On October 29, a foul ball pop fly off of Gleyber Torres’ bat led to the altercation. In foul area, Betts, who was positioned in right field, leaped to collect the ball close to the wall. Austin Capobianco, a fan in the front row, came over and took Betts’ glove with both hands as he caught it, yanking the ball out of it with force. The scenario was further complicated when Betts’ non-gloved hand was grabbed by Capobianco’s pal, John Peter.
Betts originally maintained his composure in the wake of the incident, not wanting to cause a scene in front of the audience or allow the incident to overshadow the game. However, Betts acknowledged in the Hart and Thompson interview that in that
