Breaking: Offense lineman Jacobe Ward commits to Auburn

During the spring, Jacobe Ward was led by Auburn. During the summer, Ward was led by Auburn. Ward, a three-star interior offensive lineman, committed to Auburn after deciding against Tennessee and LSU.

Ward, a 6-foot-4, 335-pound offensive lineman, is ranked No. 682 overall, No. 44 in his position, and No. 75 in Georgia, according to the 247Sports Composite, an industry-generated ranking. The Georgia native and product of Benedictine Military School is ranked No. 110 overall and No. 81 among interior offensive linemen by 247Sports.

Offense line coach Jake Thornton pushed hard to recruit Ward because, despite his rating, Auburn saw him as a player who could make an immediate impact at guard.

It was “mainly just the environment of Auburn,” Ward told Auburn Undercover. “And that includes the coaches too. I get along well with every coach, but Coach Thornton in particular. Other instructors failed to do the little things that he does. My friendship with Coach Freeze is equally strong. Additionally, he took the time to sit down and tell me how much of an influence I had on the squad. Sitting down, he takes on the character of a father figure, you know? Feel free to reach out to him whenever you need to speak. No matter what, you can count on him to be at your side.

When he first started courting Ward in the 2025 class, Thornton made it clear that he could start on the first day of the season at Auburn. According to Ward, that was a major consideration.

“That was the biggest part of my recruitment,” he added. Finding a home is all I’m attempting to do. In order to help me understand my role on the squad, Coach Thornton outlined everything for me.

According to Ward, the Tigers were his leader when he initially visited Auburn in March. After that, he went on excursions to Tennessee, South Carolina, and LSU, but he re-appointed the Tigers as his team in June upon his return.

He made more official visits to Tennessee and LSU after his March visit to Auburn, but he had known the Plains would be his final destination since his first visit.

“Honestly I knew the first time I stepped foot in Auburn,” he added. It was as if I had returned home. I made sure to include it in all of my official visits so I wouldn’t miss out on the experience. It was like coming home the moment I stepped foot in Auburn.

With his addition to the 2025 class, Ward becomes the sixteenth commit for Auburn. He joins Tavaris Dice, Broderick Shull, Tai Buster, and Spencer Dowland on the offensive line. Among the classes evaluated by 247Sports, this one comes in at number eleven.

Now that he is a part of the class, Auburn’s newest member is focusing on recruiting Herbert “Third” Scroggins, a Miami edge commit and a teammate who Auburn missed out on.

“I’m most definitely recruiting some guys,” he added. I’m still attempting to reunite Third with our team at the moment. Since Third is my dog, he is my primary target in my ongoing efforts to reclaim him. Undeniably, I am working to reclaim him.
