The city of Philadelphia — On Monday, following the Eagles’ 37-17 victory over the Cincinnati Bengals on October 27, Zack Baun entered the locker room and saw a football, one of two turnovers produced by the defense.

Turning to his teammate Nakobe Dean, the Eagles linebacker informed him that he was going to the locker room. Two other footballs have been put to the linebacker room since then as part of a little tradition with the hope that more will come.

To kick things off, Baun mentioned that they have a small tally in the linebacker room. “It seemed like we were stuck in a (turnover) rut for a long time and needed a boost. After receiving the first one in Cincinnati, I was like, “Let’s make this a thing. We need to keep this in mind every time and understand the big picture.”

In the game against the Bengals, Baun won back a fumble. He and Dean both had interceptions in the next week’s 28-23 victory over the Jaguars; in the last two minutes of the game, Dean’s theft in the end zone sealed their fourth consecutive victory. Their interception was the first by a tandem of Eagles linebackers since Carlos Emmons and Jeremiah Trotter in 2000.

On Sunday (4:25 p.m./CBS), the Eagles(6-2) will travel to Dallas to take on the 3-5 Cowboys. The linebacker room is now dealing with three turnover balls. The Eagles are plus-4 in the takeaway/giveaway category over the past three games, during which they have committed five turnovers.
