An outstanding effort was turned in by Malik Nabers, a wide receiver for the New York Giants who is just starting out in his career.

Despite the fact that the Washington Commanders defeated them by a score of 21–18, Nabers was still able to post 127 yards and score his first touchdown of his professional career. On the other hand, this did not prevent him from accepting responsibility at a critically important moment.

When asked by reporters in the locker room after the game, Nabers expressed his disappointment by saying, “It hurts that I let the veterans down; they know my calibre as a player.” They have placed a great deal of trust in me, and I am aware of that. My mantra is “Don’t let my team down,” and unfortunately, I don’t live up to that mantra.

Nabers was making a reference to a vital fourth-down conversion that took place at the end of the fourth quarter. During this crucial conversion, quarterback Daniel Jones attempted a ball that was nearly perfect but fell out of his grasp, which resulted in a downs play. After driving down the field, Washington would make the walk-off field goal that would give them the victory in the game.

To give credit where credit is due, Nabers was not solely responsible for the result of the game.

The hamstring injury that New York’s kicker, Graham Gano, sustained occurred during the first kickoff of the game. Unfortunately, as a consequence of this, the squad was unable to execute its traditional game plan for field goals and tries to score extra points.

The likelihood is that New York will have eight more points on its side of the scoreboard going into the final drive, provided that Gano does not sustain any injuries (and he cannot be held accountable for that outcome either).

Following the first touchdown scored by New York, punter Jamie Gillan, who had taken Gano’s place in the kicking game, was unsuccessful in his effort to make an extra point. After that, head coach Brian Daboll was forced to use two-point conversions, and New York would go on to miss one on their second touchdown attempt.

As an additional point of interest, New York had the opportunity to kick two field goals rather than having to deal with the two fourth down conversions that it failed to complete.

Therefore, in light of the fact that Nabers wanted to own up to a grab that he really ought to have had, the event shouldn’t be taken too seriously in view of the fact that he had such a tremendous performance on Sunday.
