The New York Giants’ secondary is full of potential, despite its youth and lack of experience. On the other hand, the defensive backfield’s performance this season has been all over the place, and they might be lacking a key player or two to fully develop into a dominant unit.
During the offseason, general manager Joe Schoen will undoubtedly prioritize adding such assets. The 2025 NFL Draft is stacked with talented backup players, which is great news for the Giants. Among them is a promising safety who has the potential to transform the team’s defense.
The Giants may be able to fill a safety position over the upcoming summer.

Although the Giants’ starting defense is strong, it might be even better. The G-Men will be able to rely on rookie second-round pick Tyler Nubin, who has been outstanding this season. Nevertheless, seasoned starter Jason Pinnock will have the opportunity to pursue other opportunities in the upcoming summer as an unrestricted free agent.
The back end of Big Blue’s defense would be immediately exposed if Pinnock were to depart. If the Giants choose to shop at the top of the free agency market in 2025, that hole may be filled—and even improved upon.
