Just in case anyone was wondering, Bryce Harper’s 2024 bat was unaffected by his move to first base.
Silver Slugger Award number four for the Philadelphia Phillies superstar, who has played first base since making the switch, was presented on Tuesday. On two occasions, he was an outfielder; on the third, in 2023, he was the designated hitter for the Philadelphia Phillies.
Harper joins just four other players in Major League Baseball history to win a Silver Slugger at three different positions, according to MLB.com’s Sarah Langs. Along with Miguel Cabrera, Al Oliver, and Albert Pujols, he is one of the few hitters who can play many positions.
Oliver, similar to Harper, was a three-time Silver Slugger winner—first baseman, designated hitter, and outfielder. They were earned by Pujols and Cabrera in the outfield, at first and third base, respectively.

Harper made his eighth All-Star appearance this season while batting.285 with 30 home runs, 42 doubles, 87 RBI, 85 runs, seven stolen bases, an.898 OPS, and 4.8 WAR.
Throughout his career, the two-time MVP and former National League Rookie of the Year hit.281 with an OPS of.911. Harper has hit 1,670 balls, hit 336 home runs, hit 369 doubles, 24 triples, driven in 976 runs, scored 1,082 runs, stole 140 bases, and accumulated 51.1 WAR since his 2012 debut with the Washington Nationals.
After Nolan Arenado and Paul Goldschmidt, Harper is in third place in the National League in home runs over the last thirteen seasons. Among National League players with at least 3,000 at-bats throughout that time period, his slugging percentage stands alone.
Harper is currently 32 years old and has seven more seasons of guaranteed money with the Philadelphia Phillies. Aside from the possibility of adding to his Silver Slugger collection, Harper continues to pursue his goal of leading the Phillies to their first championship since 2008 and earning his first World Series ring.
