The New York Mets’ heavy involvement in the Juan Soto sweepstakes this offseason is well-known.

New York Mets Owner Steve Cohen Sends Message About Juan Soto

A group of Mets executives, including billionaire owner Steve Cohen, David Stearns, Carlos Mendoza, and Scott Boras, met with Soto and his agent in California not long ago.

The Mets are reportedly among five clubs that have extended offers to Soto and Boras during the initial stages of the trade process (via NJ Advance Media). There have been reports that Soto has received offers from four other clubs: the Boston Red Sox, the Los Angeles Dodgers, the New York Yankees, who are across town rivals, and the Toronto Blue Jays.

When asked what he would say to Mets supporters who want superstar outfielder Juan Soto to arrive in Queens, Cohen gave his first public statement during the Soto drama at an event on Monday.

Cohen stated, via SNY, that “we’re gonna find out.” It’s a yes or no question. “Only time will tell; there is no in between.”

Many have seen the Soto sweepstakes as a competition between the Mets and the Yankees. Because of Cohen’s ambition and vast pockets, the Mets are supposedly the current favorites to sign Soto.

It is believed that Soto will sign a record-breaking long-term contract worth between $600 million and $700 million, or maybe more. The 26-year-old sensation’s deal will probably go beyond 10 years.

Multiple rounds of offers are expected for Soto, according to The Athletic. Most people think Soto will decide which team to sign with either before or during the December mid-Winter Meetings in Dallas.

Although the Mets are currently in a strong position to sign Soto, they are not the only team interested in the superstar.
