In a statement released on Saturday, the team confirmed that they had formally released Jake Diekman, a left-handed relief pitcher.

The trade deadline for the 30th of July was just one day before Diekman was designated for assignment, which occurred on Monday. Due to the fact that the Mets were unable to engage in a trade with him, he will now be a free agent and will be seeking for a new team to play for late in the season.
