Breaking: Philadelphia 76ers sent shockwaves to the entire NBA by making supprise signingn to bolster bench

As a result of their early free agency bonanza, the Philadelphia 76ers still have a few roster openings that they are looking to fill before the 2024-25 season. They are looking to have these positions filled as soon as possible. In spite of the fact that they are predetermined to emerge victorious regardless of the manner in which they choose to conclude the offseason, it is never a bad idea to double down on depth and bring in reinforcements at every position.

The position of point guard is one area in which the team is obviously lacking the necessary skills. With the exception of Tyrese Maxey, who has transitioned into a floor general, and Kyle Lowry, the 76ers do not have a lot of other players on their roster who are naturally gifted playmakers. This is even more urgent in light of the fact that the latter is already 38 years old and will undoubtedly require a lighter burden during the following season.

Fortunately, it appears like Philadelphia’s brass has responded to the call after making their quietly significant move.

A vital point guard position will be filled by the 76ers with the signing of Jeff Dowtin Jr.
The Philadelphia 76ers are said to have reached an agreement with guard Jeff Dowtin Jr. on a two-way deal that will keep him in Philadelphia. The agreement was allegedly reached on Sunday night. The front management decided to refuse the player’s team option for the upcoming season early on; nonetheless, the 27-year-old player will now have the opportunity to remain with a franchise that has the possibility of incorporating him onto the regular squad following training camp.

After a successful performance in the Summer League, Dowtin was able to make his formal return to the 76ers. After achieving a similar level of success in Salt Lake City, where he averaged 12 points and 5.3 assists a game, he went on to achieve the same level of success in Las Vegas, where he averaged 17.3 points and six assists per game.

Despite the fact that he will be under a two-way contract, this does not rule out the possibility of him securing a more significant role or deal in the future. There are still four unfilled roster places for the 76ers, and even if he continues to be on a two-way arrangement, he will still have a chance to participate in games in the event that Lowry is sidelined due to an injury or has to take a break.

During the Summer League, Jared McCain and Ricky Council IV both turned up noteworthy performances; yet, neither of them is considered to be a strong second-unit table setter. Dowtin, who has a significant amount of experience playing under Nick Nurse, has the potential to outperform them in taking on the role of lead guard when it is required.
