On Wednesday, the Colts only did a light practice session, but Lewis is anticipated to return to training for the first time since September on Thursday.

Lewis was placed on injured reserve on October 1st due to struggling with injuries to his wrist, calf, and elbow during the initial month of the season. In the initial four matches of the Colts, he took charge of the defensive line’s right flank, registering 17 tackles, with two resulting in a loss and 1.5 sacks.
The injury to Lewis has opened up new possibilities for Dayo Odeyingbo, a second-round pick in 2021, and Laitu Latu, a first-round pick in 2024, who have each accumulated 3.0 sacks so far this season. The abundance of defensive end options for the Colts, including Kwity Paye, their first-round pick in 2021, will enable Lewis to gradually increase his involvement in practice when he returns, without feeling rushed to play in games immediately.

During the offseason, Lewis inked a new two-year deal worth $12 million to stay in Indianapolis. Since being chosen as the final selection of the second round in 2018, he has dedicated his entire professional journey to the Colts.
