One of the assistants that JJ Redick, who is 40 years old and the head coach of the Los Angeles Lakers, will have in his first year as a head coach at any level will be a fellow All-American Blue Devil whose time spent in Durham coincided with his glory days as a professional basketball player at Duke.

A former Duke women’s basketball great guard and two-time ACC Defensive Player of the Year, Lindsey Harding, who is now 40 years old and the reigning G League Coach of the Year with the Stockton Kings, was hired by the Los Angeles Lakers, according to a report by ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski on Tuesday evening.

Since their arrival in Durham in 2002, both Redick, who went on to become Duke’s all-time top scorer, and Harding, who was selected first overall in the WNBA Draft in 2007, joined the team. They excelled for their respective teams to the extent that their jersey numbers, Redick’s No. 4 and Harding’s No. 10, will be permanently displayed on the rafters of Cameron Indoor Stadium.

Furthermore, as Wojnarowski pointed out, they came into contact with one another once more at the time that Lindsey Harding was working as a player development coach for the Philadelphia 76ers and JJ Redick was experiencing the highest season scoring averages of his career in Philadelphia during the 2017-18 and 2018-19 seasons.
