Breaking: His efforts and dedication have taken him to another level; the fans celebrates as 49ers owner Denise DeBartolo York promised to make all-pro DE Nick Bosa the……
In Christian McCaffrey’s absence, San Francisco remained afloat. The 49ers are back in full swing now that the league’s reigning MVP is well.
Following McCaffrey’s return from an eight-game absence owing to Achilles tendinitis, the 49ers (5-4) defeated Tampa Bay 23-20 to go on a winning streak, their first of the season.
When they meet the Seattle Seahawks (4-5) on Sunday in Santa Clara, California, they’ll be looking to keep their winning streak going.
McCaffery simply expressed his happiness at being here. “That was a long journey and a lot of long days, so it feels good to win and it feels good to just play in a football game again.”
Because he had such high expectations of himself, McCaffrey was unable to fully realize his potential. He had 39 yards on the ground (13 carries) and 68 (six receptions) from the pass.
Having McCaffrey back in the backfield made Brock Purdy the happiest. Purdy passed for 353 yards and two touchdowns.
“I thought he was fantastic,” Purdy remarked. “We had multiple plays with him out of the backfield that were some big plays throwing the ball.”
“Even-keeled” was the goal of McCaffrey’s season debut, he added.
Obviously, playing in an NFL football game is a really emotional experience. “So, I just try to let those come naturally,” McCaffrey added. I want to be on the field more than anybody else when you lose time like that. Playing football is a tremendous luxury, and being out there again makes you appreciate it much more.
While the 49ers’ injury report for McCaffrey read “limited,” head coach Kyle Shanahan stated that the running back will be given regular maintenance days to help him get back into his weekly grind.
Both George Kittle (hamstring) and Nick Bosa (hip) did not participate in practice, but Shanahan did not appear overly concerned. When punter Mitch Wishnowsky hurt his back even more against the Buccaneers, everyone was confused about his status.
In Week 6, the 49ers defeated the Seahawks 36-24 behind Kittle’s five receptions for 68 yards and two scores.
When the Seahawks and 49ers met previously, it was two unfamiliar runners who tore the defense apart.
After a 3-0 start, the Seahawks have dropped five in a row and are riding a bye. Against the 49ers, whose offense was led by Jordan Mason and Isaac Guerendo, the Seahawks gave up a season-low 228 running yards and 6.9 yards per carry in a 12–point loss on October 10th.
In 2023, McCaffrey faced the Seahawks twice, rushing for 259 yards and two scores and catching six catches for 33 more.
The Seahawks’ defense is 27th against the run with 139.4 yards per game and 23rd overall in the NFL.
“We have guys that fought, but we have to get down to business and fix this because we’re trying to do too much that isn’t helping us win games or complement each other,” stated Mike Macdonald, the first-year coach of the Seahawks and the defensive coordinator for Baltimore’s championship-winning squad last year. “And just the same mentality we’ve had every week, we’ve got to keep that going, and we’re going to find the solution at some point.”
Starting linebacker Tyrel Dodson, who had 71 tackles, was unexpectedly released this week by the Seahawks.
After sitting out the previous two games due to a knee injury, wide receiver DK Metcalf of the Seattle Seahawks was a full participant in practice to kick off the week, indicating that he is likely to return.
Even though he was limited, right tackle Abe Lucas (knee) could play in his first game of the season. Leonard Williams (foot), Noah Fant (groin), and Brady Russell (foot) were the defensive linemen and tight ends that did not participate in practice.
