The New England Patriots have reversed their season-opening 1-6 record by winning two of their last three games.

A dismal loss has hit the Rams, but the Patriots are riding high after a resounding victory over the Bears. Gillette Stadium will host Sunday’s matchup between the two squads.

With a 3-8 record, the Patriots don’t have much to play for. However, if they defeat Los Angeles this coming Sunday, they can definitely ruin the Rams’ division title and postseason prospects.

Playing on Monday Night Football deprives Los Angeles of a day of preparation, according to Bill Bender of The Sporting News, who feels the Rams will face another tough opponent.

According to Bender, the Rams are in dire need of a victory against the Patriots, yet they have struggled on the road this season. The Patriots have been playing better during their last three games, and the Rams will need to be ready to face a club that is starting to feel more confident.

According to Bender, “the protection for Matthew Stafford has been better in the past four games,” despite the fact that the Rams are 1-3 straight up on the road this season.

“The defense is generating more turnovers, and he only recorded one sack in the three games leading up to Monday Night Football’s matchup against Miami.”

The Patriots’ rookie quarterback Drake Maye was lauded by Bender for his excellent past two games, although he did point out that the Patriots’ defenses faced by the Chicago Bears and Tennessee Titans were far weaker than the Rams’.

“Rookie quarterback Drake Maye of the Patriots has had a completion rate of 66.7% in his previous two games. However, if the Rams move ahead early, Maye will be forced to take more chances,” Bender added.

If they want to stay in the division and play for a postseason spot, the Rams need to figure out how to beat the Patriots on the road. With each loss, the Rams’ margin for error decreases after opening the season 1-4. The Arizona Cardinals, who are now riding a four-game winning streak, are a prime example of this.
